Vietnamese developers Andre, Ken, and Luis built Nexus, a peer-to-peer lending platform on Stellar, during APAC Hackathon. Unlike pooled lending models, Nexus lets borrowers and lenders negotiate custom terms directly on-chain using smart contracts for collateral management and repayment.
In Builder Spotlight #6, three Vietnamese developers—Andre (CTO), Ken (frontend developer), and Luis (business development)—discuss their transition from Web2 software engineering into Web3 and the creation of Nexus, a peer-to-peer lending platform on Stellar. Originally inspired by platforms like Boon Lending but constrained by pooled lending models, they built Nexus to allow borrowers and lenders to directly negotiate custom terms including loan amounts, interest rates, collateral, and durations. The team designed modular smart contracts to handle collateral management, repayment enforcement, and risk assessment. Developed during APAC Hackathon with mentorship from the Stellar ecosystem, Nexus reflects how the Vietnam chapter is growing a cohort of builders contributing novel DeFi infrastructure to Stellar.
