Marcelo from Cheesecake Labs introduced Stellar Sandbox v2, an enhanced platform for asset tokenization that enables non-technical users to issue, manage, and distribute assets on Stellar without development expertise. The platform includes custodial wallets, role-based access control, treasury management, and upcoming Soroban smart contract integration, with the codebase being released as open source.
At Meridian conference, Cheesecake Labs CEO Marcelo presented Stellar Sandbox v2, a redesigned platform for asset issuance and management built from Mercado Bitcoin's tokenization needs. The platform evolved from v1 to eliminate technical barriers, offering custodial wallets, role-based access control for organizational governance, and treasury management features that let users create accounts representing different branches or entities. Key capabilities include asset creation with built-in controls like authorization flags, freeze, and clawback; real-time transaction processing in five seconds; and unified dashboards showing asset performance and payment timelines. The platform also previews Soroban integration for advanced smart contract rules, demonstrated through a certificate of deposits use case. Cheesecake Labs will open source the codebase under Apache 2.0, enabling banks and institutions to customize it for production use with enhanced key custody solutions like Fireblocks or BitGo.
