Alejo Mendoza from SkyHits introduces a new smart contract platform for music NFTs on Stellar, enabling microtransactions for streams, downloads, and likes with revenue distributed to artists and investors via escrow mechanisms.
SkyHits, a music NFT platform built on Stellar, launched a smart contract-based system that generates revenue from user actions like streaming, downloading, and liking music. The platform uses email-based authentication tied to XLM wallets, eliminating seed phrase management friction. Key features include native APR calculations without third-party risk, real-time top charts driven by user engagement, and automatic revenue distribution to artists and investors. Founder Alejo Mendoza discussed how Soroban smart contracts enabled faster iteration compared to Stellar Classic, the platform's approach to indexing and preserving music NFTs on IPFS, and plans for mobile apps and Stripe integration for on/off-ramps. SkyHits is live on mainnet with 100 beta spots offering 5 XLM to early testers.
