Stellar Development Foundation concludes 2020 virtual Meridian conference, highlighting 2 billion network operations, 25 live anchors, and 2021 priorities including DEX liquidity improvements, a private sidechain, and expanded anchor partnerships to drive financial inclusion.
At the 2020 Meridian conference conclusion, SDF leadership reviewed the year's achievements: 2,000 registrants from 79 countries, 1 billion cumulative network operations reached in April with 900 million in 2020 alone, meaningful assets grew 61% to 79, and 25 anchors now drive 5x more volume than prior year. Key speakers including World Bank president Jim Kim and Nobel laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf emphasized blockchain's role in financial inclusion and remittances. SDF outlined 2021 strategy focused on three pillars: growing the anchor network, supporting use cases, and ensuring scalability. Priority initiatives include tackling DEX liquidity, developing a private sidechain for high-throughput and regulated use cases, expanding Vibrant, adding four new payment corridors, and advocating for stable US blockchain policy. SDF grew from 12 to nearly 80 employees across 10 countries to support ecosystem expansion.
