Stellar Development Foundation and MoneyGram launched MoneyGram Access, a global cash-to-crypto on-ramp enabling users to deposit physical cash at 350,000 MoneyGram locations worldwide and receive USDC on Stellar, with no transaction fees for the first year.
SDF and MoneyGram announced MoneyGram Access, the first global physical cash-to-crypto on-ramp service. Users can walk into any of MoneyGram's 350,000 locations across 190+ countries to deposit local cash and receive USDC on Stellar, or withdraw USDC for local currency. The service targets the 1.4 billion unbanked people globally and supports both custodial and non-custodial wallets. Cash-out is live globally; cash-in is available in 12 major markets with Morocco and Senegal coming next. MoneyGram is waiving transaction fees for the first year. The integration uses a standardized hosted checkout API, supports multiple languages, and enables use cases beyond remittances including payroll, freelancer platforms, and P2P payments. Settlement occurs entirely in USDC on Stellar for cost efficiency and speed.
