Lumen Loop's take

At Consensus 2023, SDF shared progress on Stellar Aid Assist (SAA), a humanitarian aid disbursement platform launched in December that has already deployed aid to Ukraine recipients. SAA combines MoneyGram Ramps, which provides cash on/off-ramps in 180+ countries, with the Stellar Disbursement Platform for bulk payments and transaction tracking. SDF plans to open-source the Disbursement Platform by end of Q3, allowing any developer or entrepreneur to build on these tools. The initiative demonstrates how blockchain can solve real-world challenges in aid delivery, including safety and fraud concerns in cash-based systems, while emphasizing that blockchain should only be used when it genuinely solves problems rather than for its own sake.
