Project Thruput, Stellar Foundation's new execution model, removes transaction ordering bottlenecks by enabling parallel execution even when transactions touch the same state. Early benchmarks show validator capacity growing from 1.18 million to 7.02 million payments per second. Now live on FutureNet with open-source code and reproducible benchmarks.

Stellar released Project Thruput, a technology preview of a new execution model that removes the transaction ordering bottleneck from blockchain scaling. Most blockchains process transactions in strict order, even when they could run in parallel; Thruput allows concurrent execution of transactions touching the same state by combining compatible changes. In early benchmarks on eight AWS instances, execution capacity grew from 1.18 million to 7.02 million payments per second, nearly 6x the original. The system eliminates per-transaction fees, instead rationing compute via account balance and storage. Project Thruput is live on FutureNet today with open-source code, white papers, and reproducible benchmarks available for community testing.
