Stellar Protocol 23, named Whisk, introduces unified events and parallel transaction processing to improve developer experience and network scalability. The protocol launches September 3rd and includes fee reductions, state archival foundational work, and configurable network parameters.

Stellar Protocol 23 has been named Whisk, marking the beginning of a naming convention for protocol versions using everyday tools as themes. The protocol introduces two major improvements: Unified Events, which standardizes data formatting for both smart contract and classic operations to eliminate developer complexity, and Parallel Transaction Processing, which enables Stellar Core to validate transactions concurrently rather than sequentially. Additional improvements include further fee reductions through WebAssembly caching optimizations, preparatory work for state archival, and configurable SCP timing parameters for validators. The upgrade is scheduled to go live September 3rd at 10:00 am PST, and developers must upgrade their Stellar SDKs beforehand to ensure applications continue functioning. These changes collectively enhance network throughput, reduce latency and fees, and improve scalability as the Stellar ecosystem grows.
