A Retrospective on Stellar Quest Live: Series 5

Stellar Quest Live Series 5 concluded after a year-long hiatus, attracting 2,344 unique accounts and distributing over 1 million XLM across six Soroban-focused challenges. The series was the most successful to date, driving 50+ submissions to Sorobanathon: First Light despite technical challenges and XLM farming issues.

Lumen Loop's take

Stellar Quest Live Series 5 returned in November 2022 after a year away, pivoting from classic Stellar to focus entirely on Soroban smart contracts. Running from November 10 to December 1, the series released six quests and achieved record engagement with 2,344 unique accounts, 6,069 badges claimed, and 1,007,400 XLM distributed. The team used Gitpod to simplify the developer experience, removing barriers to entry around Rust installation and dependencies. Despite breaking Futurenet twice and dealing with significant XLM farming activity (nearly 2,000 accounts blocked), Series 5 became the most successful series ever and directly inspired over 50 technical submissions to Sorobanathon: First Light. Series 6 is planned for 2023 with monthly contract challenges focused on speed, cost-efficiency, and contract size.
