Stellar Development Foundation and Keybase announced a 2 billion XLM airdrop worth roughly $120 million, distributing 100 million XLM monthly to Keybase's 300,000 active users over 20 months. The partnership aims to introduce cryptocurrency to non-crypto-native users through an existing messaging platform.

The Stellar Development Foundation and messaging service Keybase announced a 2 billion XLM airdrop, the largest in Stellar's history, worth approximately $120 million. Over 20 months, Keybase users will receive monthly airdrops of 100 million XLM automatically to authenticated accounts, with three months guaranteed and continuation dependent on success metrics. Keybase currently has 300,000 active users and has integrated Stellar since May 2019, allowing users to send XLM to other users, phone numbers, and make inline payments. SDF CEO Denelle Dixon framed the airdrop as part of Stellar's adoption strategy, targeting non-crypto-native users who align with the foundation's vision. The partnership reflects a broader trend of messaging platforms integrating cryptocurrency, competing with Telegram's TON and Facebook's Libra initiatives.
