Coinbase Pro announced Wednesday that it is listing Stellar Lumens (XLM), with deposit support live and trading to begin once sufficient liquidity is established, a process expected to take at least 12 hours. XLM remains unavailable on Coinbase's retail platforms including coinbase.com and mobile apps. Stellar, founded by Ripple co-founder Jed McCaleb in 2014, aims to create a low-cost payment network enabling fast money transfers between banks, businesses, and individuals. The announcement follows Coinbase's December identification of XLM as a candidate asset. XLM's price increased over 30 percent in four days, with 5 percent of that gain occurring after the Coinbase Pro announcement, currently trading at $0.11.
