Tomer Weller outlines Stellar's 2022 tech strategy, highlighting three priorities: layer one scalability targeting 5,000 TPS via SpeedEx, cryptocurrency bridges to other ecosystems, and trust-minimized innovation. The network achieved 99% ledger closure within 7 seconds and AMMs reached $14M in liquidity within two weeks of launch.
At Meridian, Tomer Weller from the Stellar Development Foundation presented the network's 2022 tech roadmap. Building on 2021's liquidity focus, which delivered Stellar USDC and protocol-level AMMs, the SDF outlined three core priorities. First, layer one scalability: Stellar commits to measuring and publishing sustained max TPS figures, with a 2022 milestone of 5,000 TPS achieved through SpeedEx, a novel batch trading approach that enables parallelism and eliminates front-running. Second, cryptocurrency bridges: the ecosystem will develop trust-minimized bridges to other blockchains, with a new bounty program launching for bridge developers. Third, trust-minimized innovation: Stellar will continue exploring novel technologies beyond AMMs. The network demonstrated robustness with 99% of ledgers closing within 7 seconds over six months, and AMMs generated over $14M in liquidity within two weeks, with 40-50% of path payments routing through them.
