Stellar Development Foundation shares how the ecosystem accelerated Automated Market Maker (AMM) development for Protocol 18 by involving developers early with API specs, mock environments, and Futurenet testing, enabling simultaneous product launches upon network upgrade in November.

The Stellar Development Foundation published a detailed account of how the ecosystem coordinated an accelerated rollout of Automated Market Maker (AMM) support for Protocol 18. Rather than following the typical pattern where ecosystem developers wait until testnet upgrade to begin integration work, SDF shared API specifications in early August, provided a mock API environment in mid-August, and launched Futurenet with Protocol 18 release candidates in mid-September. This early access allowed ecosystem teams to design, build, and test AMM integrations in parallel with core development. The result is that multiple ecosystem products and services are positioned to launch simultaneously with the Protocol 18 upgrade vote in early November, eliminating the usual lag between protocol release and feature availability. SDF emphasizes this collaborative approach as a model for future ecosystem development.
