A guide to alternative ways to succeed in the Stellar ecosystem beyond founding a startup. Whether you're a developer, designer, community organizer, or infrastructure builder, the ecosystem needs your skills. Discover five paths to impact without launching a company.

Institutions favor permissioned blockchains for the security of a counterparty. But that counterparty can unilaterally change terms. Open networks distribute this risk, and Franklin Templeton's BENJI shows institutions can operate on public networks successfully.

Over 23 rounds since October 2023, Stellar Community Fund's Neural Quorum Governance has distributed $38M to over 500 projects. The open-source voting system combining layered neurons with quorum delegation evolved across three phases and now achieves 89% alignment with expert delegate panels.

Three major institutions are joining Stellar as Tier 1 validators: MoneyGram (payments), Figure (RWA stablecoins), and Range (compliance services). Despite earning zero block rewards or staking yields, they're validating because their core businesses depend on Stellar's decentralized governance model and security.

Tellus Cooperative's third Green Pill newsletter analyzes Q2 2026 as Stellar's institutional pivot: MoneyGram, Figure Markets, and Range joined as Tier 1 validators while RWA ecosystem grew to $3.1B+ across 12 tokenized asset issuers. The SDF partnered with Allium for independent on-chain metrics, and Stellar became a Premier Member of x402 Foundation—new governance for AI agent-to-agent payments.

Anke Liu, who has run the Stellar Community Fund since 2020, launches a Substack on governance in practice. Drawing from six years managing $38M+ in awards, she'll write about how voting mechanisms and capital allocation actually work—not how they're designed, but what happens when real money and incentives show up.

Stellar's Q2 2026 marked a transition from technology-first infrastructure building toward distribution. Protocol upgrades 26 "Yardstick" and 27 "Zipper" introduced precision and reliability features; Circle launched Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol for native USDC cross-chain movement; Confidential Tokens privacy went to developer preview; tokenized RWAs crossed $3 billion; the Stellar Development Foundation published governance essays and announced a six-region Market Development team focused on embedding blockchain into existing financial platforms rather than building crypto-native apps.

Range begins operating a Tier 1 validator on Stellar alongside MoneyGram and Figure Markets, expanding the network's consensus infrastructure. As a platform securing $30 billion in stablecoin and fiat activity across 200+ blockchains, Range brings its security and monitoring expertise directly to Stellar's consensus layer.

Three major institutions—MoneyGram, Figure Markets, and Range—have joined as Tier 1 validators on the Stellar network, expanding decentralization and resilience of its core consensus infrastructure. All three operate real businesses on Stellar and maintain a direct stake in the network's long-term security and neutrality.

Q2 of the Stellar Community Fund Public Goods Award wrapped with 17 projects funded and over USD 400,000 disbursed via privacy-preserving on-chain voting. This was the first round where award voting ran as encrypted on-chain governance using Tansu's governance infrastructure on Stellar.

The United Nations Development Programme launched a 26-member Blockchain Advisory Group, including Stellar Development Foundation, to explore how blockchain can address development challenges. Convening twice annually, the inaugural meeting focused on financial inclusion and how blockchain technologies can complement existing infrastructure to expand access, improve efficiency, and strengthen transparency.

Drips Network launches Wave 5 on May 26th with per-organization points caps (75k per cycle), upfront identity verification to eliminate payout delays, refined AI-based appeals for contribution disputes, and strengthened backend systems. The focus shifts toward fairness and operational health.

Stellar introduces CAP-77 Quorum Freeze, the first protocol-native onchain account freeze mechanism on a major L1 blockchain. Validators can reach consensus to freeze attacker addresses in minutes without chain halts or emergency upgrades, with full auditability and reversibility built into the ledger.

LumosDAO distributed the latest round of $LUMOS incentives across Stellar and XRP Ledger networks, rewarding native liquidity providers, ecosystem LPs, and whale holders with over 8.6M LUMOS on Stellar and 15.6M on XRPL.

LumosCore launched a three-tier rewards framework distributing millions of $LUMOS tokens to liquidity providers, whale holders, and ecosystem LPs across Stellar and XRPL. Programs allocate 1M $LUMOS per cycle to core pairs, large holders, and 20 supported asset pools, with rewards distributed automatically every 15 days.

Stellar Wave 4 launches April 22 with major updates: per-repo points budgets to prevent single repositories from dominating rewards, sunsetting the public leaderboard to refocus on contribution quality over rankings, and welcoming projects from the Codigo Alebrije hackathon.

Glo Dollar's foundation is winding down, with Brale—the regulated infrastructure provider behind the stablecoin—taking over program operations. The transition simplifies Glo's operating structure while maintaining the brand, holder experience, reserves, and mission-driven approach to supporting public goods through everyday financial activity.

LUMOS incentives distributed across Stellar and XRP Ledger networks. Native liquidity providers, ecosystem LPs, and whale holders received rewards totaling millions of LUMOS tokens across both chains.

LumosCore launches Ecosystem LP Rewards program with 240M $LUMOS allocated over 10 years to incentivize liquidity provision across Stellar and XRPL. Liquidity providers earn rewards every 15 days with no minimum deposit required.

LumosCore launches a 10-year LP rewards program allocating 240M $LUMOS tokens across 20 liquidity pools (10 on Stellar, 10 on XRPL). Participants earn rewards proportional to their liquidity share, with 2M $LUMOS distributed monthly starting April 15, 2026.

LUMOS incentives for April 1st have been distributed across Stellar and XRP Ledger networks, with liquidity providers earning 9.6M+ LUMOS on Stellar and 11.5M+ on XRPL, plus 1M LUMOS allocated to whale holders on each network.

LumosCore launches Whale Holder Rewards, distributing 50M $LUMOS tokens over 25 months to holders of 5M+ tokens across Stellar and XRPL networks, with estimated APR of 20-25% and no staking required.

Drips Wave 2 concluded with significant improvements to contributor diversity and reward fairness. Wave 3 launches March 23rd with new features including real-time Sybil defenses, AI-assisted workflows, and stricter contribution limits to prevent farming.

This article compares Proof-of-Stake consensus models with Stellar's Consensus Protocol (SCP), arguing that PoS networks create structural incentives for MEV extraction and validator misconduct, while Stellar's explicit trust model and revocable authority provide better protection for regulated asset issuers.

Drips is launching Stellar Wave 2 on February 19th with major improvements including application quotas, post-contribution surveys, language filtering, org profiles, Discord linking, and enhanced spam protection.
