IBM announced major expansion of its Blockchain World Wire payment network, which operates on the Stellar blockchain for real-time cross-border settlement. The network now spans 72 countries, supports 47 currencies, and connects 44 banking endpoints. IBM has signed letters of intent with six global banks including Banco Bradesco, Bank Busan, and Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation to issue their own stablecoins on the platform. Additionally, IBM partnered with crypto startup Stronghold to integrate Stronghold USD, a dollar-backed stablecoin, enabling clients to bypass traditional banking intermediaries for instant settlement on the network.
