The Road to $60K: Inside the APAC Stellar Hackathon Demo Days

On July 18, the largest Stellar hackathon ever held in APAC wrapped three simultaneous demo days across Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Vietnam's event drew 150+ attendees evaluating 75 project submissions, Indonesia's Yogyakarta attracted 400+ participants with 86 submissions, and the Philippines ran an eight-hour marathon with 56 live pitches at GCash. The program converted a hackathon into a builder pipeline: teams spent weeks shipping functional, user-facing financial applications addressing real payment and access problems in Southeast Asia. Finalists advance to the APAC Grand Finale on July 31, competing across Local Finance & Real World Access, DeFi & Ecosystem Composability, and Payments & Consumer Applications tracks for $60K in prizes.

The largest Stellar hackathon ever held in APAC wrapped three simultaneous demo days on July 18 across Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Vietnam's event drew 150+ attendees with 75 project submissions and 60 live pitches, Indonesia's Yogyakarta attracted 400+ participants with 86 submissions (72 pitched), and the Philippines ran an eight-hour marathon with 56 live pitches at GCash. The program was designed as a multi-stage talent pipeline: teams spent weeks building functional, user-facing financial applications solving real payment and financial-access problems specific to Southeast Asia. Beyond competition, the demo days revealed builder quality and founder potential across the region. The program provided developer workshops, community meetups, university activations, and peer coaching throughout the build period. The strongest finalists from all three countries now advance to the APAC Grand Finale on July 31, pitching live in front of @BuildOnStellar community, partners, and investors across three prize-weighted tracks: Local Finance & Real World Access, DeFi & Ecosystem Composability, and Payments & Consumer Applications, for a combined $60K pool. Beyond the competition, advancing teams gain access to grants, mentorship, ecosystem introductions, and support through mainnet deployment.
