The Stellar Development Foundation has launched three major developer initiatives: a developer mailing list for improved technical transparency, wallet listing guidelines to ensure security and interoperability standards, and the new Stellar Developer Program starting January 2019. The Developer Program provides monthly funding to vetted projects with quarterly reviews, replacing the previous hackathon-style Build Challenge. The SBC will evolve into quarterly two-week hackathons focused on new projects and innovation. These changes aim to support long-term ecosystem contributors and foster mature, maintained tools rather than abandoned projects.
