Joyce Kim announced her resignation as executive director of Stellar, the digital currency payment network she co-founded in 2014. She passed the executive director role to co-founder Jed McCaleb while remaining as board chairperson. Kim cited slow-moving legal changes in the financial industry and increasingly specialized product design as reasons for stepping down. She emphasized her continued interest in microfinance and serving the underbanked in developing regions. McCaleb had recently posted a roadmap focusing on payments connectivity in Nigeria. Kim planned to take the summer to travel and reflect before returning with new ideas for future projects.
