Mercado Bitcoin has launched USD Coin (USDC) trading on the Stellar network as of May 31, 2022, offering users a stablecoin solution with minimal transaction fees (a fraction of one cent per transaction). The integration provides borderless digital dollar access and is expected to add significant volume and liquidity to Stellar. Stellar Development Foundation CEO Denelle Dixon highlighted the mutual benefits of the partnership for financial inclusion. The collaboration builds on earlier work between Mercado Bitcoin and Stellar on a potential CBDC project for a Latin American country. Stellar processed an average of $8.6 million in daily payments in Q1 2022.
