zkTLS, Data Flows & Liquidity: Usher Labs' 2025 Vision

Usher Labs shifts focus to zkTLS for verified private data on blockchains. Verity zkTLS, now in early testing, lets apps prove data from APIs without revealing secrets. Partners ChainSight and Truflation are pilot users. A foreign exchange liquidity protocol launches in fall 2025.

Lumen Loop's take

Usher Labs, a Stellar ecosystem builder, publishes its 2025 roadmap. The company shifted its focus from decentralized data storage to a narrower, higher-impact problem: verifying that sensitive data used in blockchain transactions is authentic without exposing the data itself. Verity zkTLS, built on research from Ethereum's Privacy and Scaling Explorations, is now in early testing. It enables smart contracts to verify data sourced from protected APIs using cryptographic proofs. Partners including ChainSight (which needs 28,000 proofs annually) and Truflation are pilot users. The team also announced plans to launch a foreign exchange liquidity protocol in September or October 2025, positioning zkTLS as the foundation for connecting traditional finance with DeFi. This represents a shift from infrastructure-focused tooling to solving specific institutional use cases: moving restricted financial data on-chain while maintaining privacy and compliance.
