Stellar Is Now A Native Gateway For USDC
Circle's CCTP bridge is now live on Stellar, enabling native USDC transfers without wrapping or liquidity pools. Developers can build apps accepting USDC from any major chain without bridge UI friction.
Circle's native bridging solution CCTP is now live on the Stellar network. The cross-chain transfer protocol is the only USDC bridge that does not wrap your tokens or use liquidity pools.
With CCTP, Circle runs a burner contract on one chain and a matching minter on every supported chain. You send USDC to the burner. Circle's attestation service confirms the burn. The minter contract releases the same amount of native USDC on the destination chain.
You can burn USDC on an EVM chain and mint the same native USDC on Stellar.
Before this went live, moving USDC in or out of Stellar meant handing your tokens to a bridge operator or centralized exchange. That incurred fees, processing times and blockers to onboarding new users.
Stellar's selling point has always been low cost settlement. Transactions cost fractions of a cent or you can bundle them using a sponsored relayer to get free transactions. The network processes cross border payments, microtransactions, and tokenised real world assets with minimal overhead. CCTP plugs that settlement layer into the rest of the USDC multichain universe.
For developers building applications on Stellar this unlocks a new design space. You can build an app that takes USDC deposits from any major chain without asking users to navigate a bridge UI. You can offer payout rails that settle on Stellar and let recipients withdraw natively to their chain of choice.
The friction of onboarding new users drops because USDC on Stellar is the same USDC as USDC on Ethereum, Base or Solana. For end users, the bridge can be invisible. What matters is that USDC moves fast and cheap and arrives as the real thing.
We are moving toward an unprecedented era where we will have the ability to move money globally at scale without meaningful cost. The infrastructure is being built in front of us and CCTP on Stellar is one of the more important bricks.
