Stellar Weekly Roundup — week of Jun 26, 2026
STBL's USST tokenized RWA launched on Stellar with nearly 3 million tokens minted in its first day, joined by Open USD (Visa/Mastercard-backed) announcing for Stellar. OpenZeppelin released Confidential Tokens as a testnet preview and Protocol 27 (Zipper) heads to a mainnet validator vote on July 8.

STBL's USST, a tokenized real-world asset backed by yield-bearing collateral, launched on Stellar on July 1 and reached nearly 3 million tokens minted in the first day, independently audited by Hashlock and priced by RedStone oracle feeds. Open USD, a Visa- and Mastercard-backed stablecoin, announced its arrival on Stellar the same week. OpenZeppelin and Nethermind released Confidential Tokens as a developer preview on Stellar testnet, hiding transfer amounts and balances via zero-knowledge proofs.
Institutional RWA Momentum
STBL described USST as enabling "eligible holders of tokenized real-world assets to access liquidity and on-chain utility on Stellar while retaining exposure to their yield-bearing collateral." Smart contracts were audited by Hashlock; RedStone provides on-chain price feeds; collateral backing is trackable via stellar.stbl.com. StellarOrg framed the launch as "another example of how open blockchain infrastructure can support institutional asset workflows."
The Defiant published two institutional explainers this week. "Who Settles Wall Street?" covers DTCC's SEC approval to tokenize U.S. securities on Stellar's public blockchain, targeting Russell 1000 equities, ETFs, and money market funds, with settlement shortening from days to minutes by mid-2027. "MGUSD, Explained" breaks down the four-layer architecture behind MoneyGram's dollar stablecoin: Bridge as regulated issuer, M0 providing smart contracts, Fireblocks managing wallets, and MoneyGram distributing through its 500,000-location network.
Matrixdock's XAUm tokenized gold went live on Aquarius, adding a reserve-grade, LBMA-backed asset to Stellar's AMM pools.
Developer Infrastructure and Privacy
OpenZeppelin and Nethermind released Confidential Tokens on Stellar testnet, a composable wrapper for SEP-41 tokens hiding balances and transfer amounts while keeping counterparty addresses visible. The design includes auditor viewing keys for regulatory access and account-level freezing. Mainnet launch is targeted for late summer 2026 after security audits complete.
The July 2 Stellar Developers Meeting introduced ZARF from Trion Labs: a zero-knowledge token distribution protocol letting users claim tokens sent to their email via Google login, with no on-chain link between email and wallet. ZARF builds on Stellar's X-Ray ZK primitives.
Protocol 27, codenamed Zipper, has a mainnet validator vote scheduled for July 8. Its headline feature, CAP-71, makes authentication delegation a first-class primitive for smart wallets, multisig, and account abstraction. LOBSTR broke down Protocol 27 and SDF's Quantum Preparedness Plan: a three-stage roadmap migrating Stellar off Ed25519 to NIST post-quantum signatures, with ML-DSA host functions in 2026, first-class quantum-safe signers in 2027, and Ed25519 retirement on a community-set timeline.
DeFi and Ecosystem Products
Normal Finance announced a multi-asset wallet expansion launching July 7, adding BTC, ETH, SOL, and XLM with Turnkey-powered biometric passkeys replacing seed phrases, alongside a savings product at approximately 8% APY on USDC.
At the June 26 Stellar Global Town Hall, two competing Blend V3 proposals were presented: Templar Protocol's institutional-grade version with RWA permission pools and fixed-rate lending, versus a minimalist approach keeping Blend as a primitive and delegating fixed-rate mechanics to overlay protocols. Blend has no governance DAO; whichever proposal attracts majority backstop LP migration wins.
Rivool's case study covers its Stellar-native advisor distribution layer: financial advisors distribute digital assets and earn automated fees via Blend lending pools.
Community and Regional Activity
Rise In and Stellar Philippines hosted Build on Stellar at Philippine Blockchain Week, drawing 127 developers for two days of Soroban bootcamps, hackathon mentorship, and ecosystem panels. The event launched the APAC Stellar Hackathon with $60,000 in prizes; submissions close July 15 with Demo Day on July 18. StarMaker LATAM organized the university blockchain onboarding closing event with CANACINTRA in Cuernavaca, Mexico on July 3, ahead of Pulso Halftime Demo events across Bogotá, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires on July 6. SCF #44 community vote opened June 30 and closes July 6. Tansu's Q2 Public Goods Award recap reports 17 projects funded and over $400,000 disbursed via the first encrypted on-chain governance voting round on Stellar.
