Exploring Privacy on Stellar with Boundless and Nethermind

Stellar Protocol 25 Project X-Ray ships native ZK primitives (BN254, Poseidon) to mainnet. Boundless Networks verifier and Nethermind's Grot16 implementation enable production-ready privacy infrastructure with configurable compliance for institutions.

Lumen Loop's take

Stellar Protocol 25 Project X-Ray introduces native zero-knowledge cryptographic primitives directly into the protocol: BN254 pairing-friendly elliptic curve, Poseidon hash functions, and Grot16 proof verification. Boundless Networks, a permissionless proving network, has deployed its verifier live on Stellar mainnet, while Nethermind led the implementation of the Grot16 verifier smart contract. This enables developers to build privacy-preserving applications with configurable compliance, allowing institutions to adopt blockchain technology without regulatory friction. The infrastructure supports cross-chain proof verification, off-chain computation with on-chain verification, and seamless integration with existing compliance systems. Developers can now write Rust programs, generate zero-knowledge proofs via Boundless, and verify them on-chain at minimal cost.
