PaltaLabs won third place at the EasyA x Stellar Meridian Hackathon in October 2024 with Payroll Genius, a tool that streamlines employment contracts and salary management on-chain. Built in 36 hours, the solution digitizes contract signatures and enables businesses to load a Payroll Vault with their revenue. When funds sit unused between pay periods, they automatically earn yield through integrations with DeFi protocols like Blend and DeFindex, solving for treasury inefficiency. The design also creates a lender market: employees with guaranteed future salary income can take loans backed by that cashflow, while lenders earn yield. The product is designed for compliance and simplicity, helping SMEs onboard payroll onto Stellar without wrestling with complex DeFi operations. The hackathon itself featured 300+ developers across 69 projects, with the winning Swifli protocol and second-place Strooper Wallet highlighting the breadth of Stellar use cases being explored.
