The Stellar Development Foundation is heading to the World Economic Forum in Davos to showcase Stellar Aid Assist, a blockchain-based aid disbursement system now being piloted by UNHCR and IRC to deliver cash assistance to displaced persons in Ukraine without requiring bank accounts.

The Stellar Development Foundation announced it will present Stellar Aid Assist at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos. The system, launched in December, enables aid organizations like UNHCR and IRC to deliver cash assistance to internally displaced persons in Ukraine through digital dollars on mobile phones, eliminating the need for bank accounts or physical cash. Recipients can receive payments remotely, hold funds securely, and exchange digital dollars for local currency at MoneyGram locations worldwide. SDF aims to counter skepticism about blockchain in aid by demonstrating real-world utility and engaging policymakers, regulators, and aid organizations about expanding financial access through open-source blockchain solutions.
