Stellar Development Foundation validator nodes and Horizon API went offline April 6, 2021, causing transaction processing delays and exchange withdrawal halts at Binance, Bitfinex, and Bitstamp. The network recovered within hours with SDF restoring services by April 7.

On April 6, 2021, around 1:00 a.m. PDT, the Stellar Development Foundation's validator nodes and public Horizon API instance went offline, disrupting transaction processing and prompting major exchanges to halt XLM withdrawals. While the broader Stellar network remained online, transaction throughput dropped significantly, with over half of submitted transactions failing during the outage. Binance, Bitfinex, and Bitstamp suspended withdrawals in response. The SDF engineering team worked with Tier 1 validators to resolve the issue, and services were fully restored by April 7 at 18:28 UTC. XLM price fell from $0.58 to $0.51 during the incident.
