The Stellar Development Foundation joined the CALP Network as its first Layer 1 blockchain member, advancing humanitarian cash and voucher assistance programs. SDF's Stellar Aid Assist platform, powered by the Stellar Disbursement Platform, enables rapid, low-cost digital payments to crisis-affected populations worldwide.

The Stellar Development Foundation announced its membership in the CALP Network (Cash Learning Partnership), becoming the first blockchain Layer 1 to join the organization dedicated to strengthening humanitarian cash and voucher assistance (CVA) programs globally. SDF developed Stellar Aid Assist, an open-source disbursement solution leveraging the Stellar network to deliver emergency payments directly to recipients' mobile wallets with speed, transparency, and low costs. The platform has been used by leading humanitarian organizations since December 2022 and addresses key challenges in humanitarian aid delivery including recipient choice, data privacy, donor accountability, and operational efficiency. SDF's membership enables collaboration with CALP's network of humanitarian organizations to advance evidence-based practices and explore blockchain's role in crisis response, positioning digital payments as a complement to traditional CVA methods rather than a replacement.
